Jaz Persing is a writer, singer, and human living in Los Angeles. She works in television when she can. The rest of the time she’s just looking for a dare-to-be-great situation, hoping she can put a good dent in the world with the mess of broken love, vulnerability, and words she has. In the meantime, she’s immensely grateful for God and the many good people around her that make it all seem feasible.

From Silence, My Soul

Even my steps
Especially my steps
Are not so certain as I pretend

Certainty was never part of the picture
There was only ever You

When I try to tie anchors
I seem only to beckon the storm
Or at least forget that You can guide
Across any condition of sea
The movement of wave upon wave
Should communicate a multitude to me

Have I so quickly decided
Written my story and submitted in haste
Without submitting
Because that word brings an ache
of a pain that extends generations

Do I want the ache...more than I want the answer?

I was named for growing anywhere
Flourishing fragrant
Even under the glare of the elements
I'm somehow sticky sweet surviving

I was named for transformation
Being in the moment, in the music

Can it be that at 27
You give me rebirth
By making me fall in love
With something as simple
As my name?

Spirals upward
Contradicting forth and back
Perfect and broken
Loved in this moment
No box checked
Just steps in front of the other
In a place where we know we are loved

Dances on the Edge
